g.h. is gary howell, longtime associate of modern love as one half of pendle coven and sometime contributor to the hate project. the ground ep features howells first material produced outside of pendle coven and takes on a much darker, more stripped down aesthetic - making use of location recordings amassed over the last decade. the title track extends over 7 minutes from a solitary bass pulse into a slow, three dimensional industrial reduction heaving with uncomfortable bass weight and a sense of nervous expectation. its like the bare, skeletal noise framework for darkest junglist hardcore stripped of its percussion - all bar a bass drum and intense shards of noise. albedo has more of a swing to it, dominated by a growling bassline and the metallic clunk of disjointed percussion at odds with the squashed funk lurking somewhere at its core. the template is extended on earth, a brilliantly discordant club variant that sounds like an r&b mastertrack exploded into 100 constituent parts and put together not entirely in the right order. it builds and collapses into itself, a stylistic oddity that at one and the same time brings to mind boards of canadas re- working of colonel abrams - trapped and the extreme frequency vortex of the raster noton lab

nice price deal !!! incl the mega track >in a blink of an eye< - pure euphoria! decks tipp.. it would be to easy to categorize satori as a techno producer. of course there were the clubhits with his partner in crime el mundo, there were long hot nights, exuberant dancefloors, pounding beats and pure ecstasy. but the person behind satori has another side, a side that also wants to pour his personal impressions into sound. meet in to void, a remarkable debut in every sense. forget about those dancefloors for a moment, the place where satori left his mark so clearly these last years. place yourself in the person djordje petrovic, born form a serbian father and south african mother, raised with balkan music, afrobeat, jazz and world music in all shapes and sizes. someone who educated himself in playing guitar and piano and also wants to showcase this other side of his music. produced in the moments in between his sessions with el mundo a series of tracks came about that characterize satori most accurately. deep, sensitive and worldly, but mostly compelling and utterly beautiful. in to void is a musical moodboard, an emotional blog if you like, where thoughts and impressions by djordje petrovic force themselves to you in a hypnotic trip, subtle but irresistible.

studio one women is the latest in the series of studio one compilations released by soul jazz records. ska, rocksteady, funky reggae, roots, dub mixes, disco mixes, they are all here from the queens of the jamaican music scene. studio one women features a wide mix of classics and obscurities from the finest female voices in reggae. until now most of these tracks have only ever been available as extremely hard to find jamaican 7 inch and 12 inch singles and even if you were lucky enough to find them they d cost you a small fortune! marcia griffiths and rita marley (here with her first group the soulettes) are two of jamaicas most famous female singers hugely popular today. both these artists became internationally famous as the i – threes (along with judy mowatt), bob marleys backing singers alongside the wailers. also featured are hortense ellis, sister of alton who cut many smash hit on the island and jennifer lara, a lady who had a long career with studio one, singing on countless sides until she sadly passed away earlier this year. studio one is the greatest label in the history of reggae and is the foundation of all reggae music. it is where virtually every world renowned jamaican superstar started out, bob marley and the wailers included. under the guidance of the legendary clement >coxsone< dodd the musicians at studio one recorded hundreds of instrumental rhythms which still provide the backbone for many of the records made in jamaica today.

panacustica’s fourth release is amongst cosmic metal mother’s finest work. “time is now” the track in question, defies definition by mastering a style on it’s own, by fusing elements echoing from prog-rock drenched with emotional content into an adult and contemporary way of delivering which is unique to the cmm writing style. the original is melancholic bliss. a vocal line at the center of the piece whispers words about oscar wilde and mr. death accompanied by a cello melody that grows bigger and bigger into an angelic cascade of notes. the track begins and ends in the most bare way with just a drum beat leaving you with the feeling you have just entered a loop where time is irrelevant. commodity place has the second cut of the a side. the duo from rome, known in the global underground of the vinyl tribes for their signature guitar style, chooses to call their mix “experience”, clearly paying homage to the gods of rock, delivering a guitar solo that will fire up your speakers and fill your eyes with the brightest psychedelic colors that we all so desperately need in this age of grey anonymity. the b-side is a full eight-minute mix by the man who needs no introduction and made us all dance since day one, larry heard, a.k.a. mr. fingers. his version is a fast “four to the floor” track, where a shaker drives the house beat into the melodic lines and voice borrowed from the original, making it one hundred per cent dance floor efficient with the modernity and mastery of his touch

as the summer comes to a close, italojohnson releases its fourth release thereby urging party people to get in the dancing swing once again. on the long recorded side, you will find a progressive house track that can be hardly surpassed in any type in its directness. an unfussy arrangement, a straight oppressive subject and a low flying breakdown compose the a-stamped side. the sincerity of the first track of the flipside doesnt come short of any expectations. the concrete in-your-face-drumming, piano lessons and stabbing strings combined with the italojohnson charm becomes the (double a) aa-side. why? because italojohnson doesnt do b-sides. finally, the aa-2 track emotionally rounds up the release with italojohnsons trademark-sound in which all the brothers and sisters are invited to explore. make love!
